The starting point of Shivapuri day hiking is Budhanilkantha. It is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Hikers can visit the temple before starting the hike.

You will see more greenery around you. You will reach Nagi Gumba. Take a short break here and explore the nunnery. There is a small tea shop here. You can have a cup of tea or coffee before continuing. From Nagi Gumba, there are two routes.

One route is steep, and the other has a moderate but vertical ascent to Bhagdwar. From here, you will reach the top of Tinchuli Hill and climb some more to reach the top of Shivapuri Peak.

Though the final hike is physically a bit demanding, you will be rewarded with an excellent landscape from the top. Upon reaching the top of the hill, enjoy the views and rest.

The best time to do Shivapuri day hiking

Shivapuri hiking is doable throughout the year. Each season has its perks. For example, spring is the season of flowers. The hill is blossomed with rhododendrons and many other flowers. The weather and climate are also perfect in spring, which makes hiking incredible.

Our guide will pick you up early in the morning. You will drive to the starting point of the trail, which is Budhanilkantha Temple. Spend some time at the temple and start hiking. The guide will obtain the necessary permits for the hike.

You will register the permits at the Army check post. At the start, you will hike following a dusty road within the Shivapuri National Park. As you walk further, the greenery begins to increase. Soon, you will reach Nagi Gomba.

Explore the gomba and continue hiking through dense forests to reach the top of Shivapuri Hill. Enjoy the views and have your lunch. Later, descend to the ending point of the trail. Your guide will drop you back at the hotel and also give you a hike completion certificate.
