Comments: " 10 stars for excellence!"
Adventure Treks Nepal is run by tour operator GYAN KARKI. Based on personal experience using dozens of other tour companies, travel agents, and guides in many other countries, I rank Gyan number 1 by far for the following reasons:
Responsiveness (During the whole year before my trip, Gyan answered every one of my e-mails well within 24 hours—most often within minutes!)
- Reliability (for every airport ride, meeting with guides and porters, minivan ride, trekking permit, domestic flight tickets, lodging, provided as promised and expected.)
- Correct and complete info, especially payment instructions (I e-mailed Gyan before and after each bank transfer. He replied each time + e-mailed me to confirm that the correct amount arrived in his bank account.)
- Flexibility (Gyan agreed to my personalized itinerary, then he and his guides adjusted it day by day to optimize it for weather and trekkers’ preferences.)
No wonder Gyan’s company, Adventure Treks Nepal, has long been recommended by Lonely Planet. He treats his guides so well, they work with him foryears (more than 10 years for the 2 guides our group of 4 had).
Guide SANGAM SHRESTHA is fantastic. He has outstanding communication skills, always listening carefully and completely before providing all available info. He is attentive, diligent, smart, good at adapting plans every day and hour, excellent at rescheduling lodging and flights when required by weather. He knows when to join trekkers in conversation and laughter, and when to give them privacy.
Guide GYANENDRA KARKI has encyclopedic knowledge of history and culture. For the last night of our clockwise trekking loop to Poon Hill, he gave our group of 4 the option of staying overnight at a small, simple, authentic TEA HOUSE IN TOLKA, run by hostess Nani. Trekkers who stay there are welcome to climb up steep stone steps and footpaths to visit the small terraces where Nani grows all the vegetables she needs and more to sell (spinach, millet, chilies…), and keeps her goats and her buffalo. Trekkers have the option of a personal cooking workshop in Nani’s kitchen to learn how to make momos, and watch guide Gyanendra prepare fresh spices to cook buffalo or chicken stew. The place is perfectly clean, including the small rooms, community toilet, and community shower. Dinner is in the kitchen. Breakfast, big fluffy pancakes by guide Gyanendra and eggs, is at the outdoor table.
PORTERS’ BAGS
We did not bring or provide any bag for porters (1 porter/2 trekkers). Instead, upon arrival in Kathmandu, Gyan gave each trekker 1 duffle bag in which to pack overnight things for the porter to carry from room check-out time each morning to room check-in time each afternoon. Each duffle is 30 inches long x 11.5 inches wide x 11.5 inches tall (76 cm long x 29 cm wide x 29 cm tall). The maximum allowed is 11 kg/duffle/trekker (or 22 kg/2 duffles/2 trekkers/1 porter).
My husband and I needed only 1 duffle for 2 of us, containing a total of only 11 kg of overnight things for a 4-6 day trek.
To fly to Pokhara, we brought everything we had, packed 1 duffle in Pokhara for our porter, and left (stored) at the Pokhara hotel what we didn’t need on the trek to Poon Hill.
To fly to Lukla, we packed 1 duffle each (to check less than the maximum of 10 kg/person for the flight) + 1 carry-on each (max 5 kg) in Kathmandu. We left (stored) at the Kathmandu hotel what we didn’t need on the trek to Namche Bazaar.
Our porter (1 porter/2 trekkers) carried our duffle using the traditional head strap or “tumpline”.
POON HILL TREK
If I had known what I know now, I would have made my Poon Hill Trek even better by spending not just 4 nights along the loop, but 6. I would trek to and stay overnight in Hille (or Tikhedhunga), Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Ghandruk, and Tolka. This would reduce the distance, number of thousands (literally!) of stone steps, and trekking time per day, and allow time to briefly stop along the way; look at landscapes, villages, and people; take more photos without rushing; experience and enjoy being there for the first and only time in life.
I highly recommend Adventure Treks Nepal, Gyan Karki and his guides and porters. Caroline and William.
Comments: " A breathtaking trip and the result is up to our expectetions".
Gyan Karki made us dream during our stay
As soon as our arrival in Kathmandou we were royally welcomed. We chose to arrive é days before (Gyan made it at once possible)in order to get a teste of Nepali life.
we discovered the bubbling city on foot with its popular neighborhoods, it's temples in the middle of the street, and the thousand motocycles coming out of nowhere
the must: don't forget to visit the garden of dreams a haven of peace away from the tumultuous city.
First trek :around the Annapurna with Gyanandra our guide and it's 2 porters Purna and Bishnu
Gyanandra showed himself up, attentive, dedicated and competent.we shared his cultured and his knowledge about the country . He was always taking care of us and tried to do the best to ensure that our wishes were respected.
during this trek the scenery was wonderful terraced fields, forest of rhododendrons
typical villages like Polka .we stood one night at Nani's tea house a wonderful woman who tought me how to make momos and at the same time we discovered the culinary talents of Gyanendra making spicy buffalo stew for diner and a wonderful breakfast we shared in front of the sunrise.this place is just something that must be discovered.
During this week we also shared the trek walking with the porters, Gyanendra involved them and that was very important for us(we spared them excessive weight by taking only one bag of 12 Kg for 2 (which absolutely recommend)
2 trek around Everest with Sangam and the 2 porters: Guma dhow and Furba
Sangam has been remarkable devoted and a very good logistician (our trip back from Lukla to Kathmandou changed because of the poor weather)
we shared with him moments of intimacy around our famous and daily lemon tea
we discovered with him a generous nature and made us appreciate the wonderful panorama of the Everest. There too Furba made with us a very nice walk at Pun hill
Between the 2 treks Gyan chose a very nice hotel, a jewel in Pokara ,one of the most beautiful hotel we have ever seen(Fish tail lodge)
Last day
Gyan came to fetch us at the hotel and brought us back to the airport in order we shared our last Nepali impressions
Conclusion
Gyan is a remarkable man answering at all our questions before we arrived he has created a nice and efficient agency with his guides and porters who are working together during many years now
so we just warmly recommend them they are highly professional
Laurence and Jean.

Comments: We had a great time in Nepal and we are very happy with our guide Jit who took us all the way from Kathmandu to Gokyo Ri. Jit also picked out nice tea houses where the food and service was above surprisingly good. All in all are very satisfied with Adventure Treks Nepal and the fact that they could arrange a custom trip for us. When we go back to Nepal we will definitely use Adventure Treks Nepal again ! Comments: We had an amazing experience! Adventure Treks Nepal provided us all great service..

Comments: "A perfectly planned bucket list trip!"
Our decision to travel to Nepal was a last minute one. With less than 2 weeks notice Gyan put together a perfect itinerary and arranged everything to best suit our needs.
Our family of 4 (children aged 10 and 14) spent 4 days trekking in the Annapurna region with Anuj, Jit and Purna. We saw the most spectacular scenery, and felt so comfortable with them. They really went out of their way to ensure that the whole family loved every minute of the experience!
We also spent time in Pokhara and Kathmandu where Gyan arranged day trips with experienced guides that were not only suitable to the whole family but also educational and fun.
We have travelled to many countries as a family and I can honestly say that Adventure Treks Nepal stood out for their customer service. Every detail was seen to, every email answered promptly. They were recommended to us and I would recommend them over and over again. I can’t wait to go back!

Comments: With Gyan and Adventure Treks Nepal you get the personal touch. Reassuring communication leading up to our trek and throughout our stay in Nepal. He was there at the airport when we arrived and each time we returned from our trips and accompanied us to the airport the day we left - always with a smile.
Dev our guide with Guman our porter, could not have been more supportive, engaging and flexible. Attentive to the challenges of our acclimatisation to altitude, Dev set a comfortable pace. Getting to Gokyo, exploring the lakes and climbing Gokyo Ri were highlights of our trek. Views of the Himalaya including of course Sagarmatha (Everest) were stunning. Acclimatisation to altitude was challenging for us, so after climbing Gokyo Ri we changed our itinerary and with Dev's flexibility and expert knowledge enjoyed a trek to Ama Dablum base camp which we felt was an even better route than Everest base camp which had been our original destination.
After exploring the Khumbu region Gyan organised a couple of short trips to Chitawan and Pokhara.
We found Adventure Treks to be a very supportive reliable company.” Hilary and Geoff

Comments: Fantastic trekking in Nepal Annapurna Massif 18 -27/10 2018
We,I Marianne and my friend Birgitta, have since many years decided to go to Nepal and make a trekking in those amazing mountains. Everything in Nepal surpassed all our expectations. The landscape, the people and on top, we got the best guide ever, Gyanendra Karki. He was happy, positive, knowledgeable and very, very professional. he pushed us just gently and very soon he knew our limit and what we were capable to manage. There was one more fantastic person, mr Kill, our unforgettable porter. Day after day carrying our luggage. Up, up, up thousands of steps and down in depth valleys and then up again. Always kind and with a smile. Many, many thanks and greetings to you too mr Kill.
All this together created an exceptional experience and trekking in the Annapurna Massif.
Gyanendra also recommended us, for two days, to end our journey in Chitwan, a big national park in the southeast of Nepal. It was a pleasant termination in a bit warmer climate, and the drive there showed us another landscape, farmland.
We saw elephant breeding, crocodiles, a lot of birds an d monkeys and also the endangered rhinoceros.
It was a big national park and we perceived that they did a seriously insert to rescue and preserve threatened species.
And at last again, thousands thanks Gyanendra Karki. You made our Nepal journey to an unforgettable memory. You are the best guide and mr Kill the best porter. You two will always have a special place in our hearts.
Our Best Greetings
Sincerely Yours
Birgitta Andersson Marianne Augustinsson
