Kashgar Trekking - 22 Days
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival: Upon your arrival at Lhasa (Gonggar Airport 96km from the main city) Transfer to Lhasa and Hotel check in. Afternoon free for acclimatization. O/N in Hotel.
Day 02: Lhasa sightseeing: Sightseeing in Lhasa, visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Market. O/N in Hotel.
Day 03: Lhasa sightseeing: Sightseeing in Lhasa, visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. O/N in Hotel.
Day 04: Lhasa / Yamdrok Lake / Gyantse (300km, 7hours): Drive to Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake, visit the famous Gyantse Kumpum . Overnight at Gyantse.
Day 05: Gyantse / Shigatse/ Sakya / Lhatse (240kms, 5hours): Drive to Shigatse to visit Tashilunpo Monastery, afternoon drive to Sakya, visit Sakya Monastery. Overnight at Lhatse.
Day 06: Lhatse / Saga (300kms, 9hours, 4450m high): Drive from Lhatse to Saga. Overnight at Saga ( Guest House, dorm bed)
Day 07: Saga / Paryang (250km, 7-8hours, 4600m high): Drive from Saga to Paryang through the windswept territory passing many villages and camps of Yak herders with the distance view of snow capped mountains. Overnight at Paryang ( Guest House, drom bed)
Day 08: Payang / Lake Manasarovar (294km, 8hours, 4558m high): Drive from Paryang to Lake Manasarovar through open territory with a view of distant mountains, Yak herders camp, if lucky might come across a herd of Kang (Wild Ass), you will have the first sight of Holy Kailash and Manasarovara. Overnight at the village Hore or Chiu Monastery ( Guest house, dorm bed)
Day 09: Lake Manasarovar: Rest and sightseeing at Lake Manasarivar. Overnight at the village Hore or Chiu Monastery ( Guest house, dorm bed)
Day 10: Lake Manasarovar / Darchen (60km, 2hours, 4560m high): Drive from Lake Manasarovar to Darchen, prepare for trekking. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 11: Trek from Darchen to Dira-puk Monastery, 20km, takes about 5 - 6hours: The first day's parikarama is a gradual walk with multitudes of other local pilgrims chanting and praying. The trail leads to few ups and downs till we reach our camp at Dirapuk (4,750 m.). Camping on the nice grassy meadows with a view of Kailash, north west face at Dirapuk for overnight halt.
Day 12: Trek from Dira-puk Monastery to Zutul-puk Monastery by crossing Drolma-la Pass, 15KM, takes about 6 - 7hours: Today our parikarama leads to much higher side of the holy path just beneath the Mount Kailash. The walk will bring us to one of the highest point at Drolma La, 5,200 m. before descending to the gradual field towards Zuthulphuk for the overnight camp. Zuthulphuk has a small monastery.
Day 13: Trek back to Darchen,14Km, 4- 5hours: The winding gradual tracks finally ends our holy pilgrimage 5hours, Overnight at Darchen.
Day 14: Darchen to Zanda (250 Km, 7-8hours): Drive from Darchen to Zanda, You will have a chance to have Tirthapuri hot-spring on the way. Overnight at Zanda ( Guest House, dorm bed)
Day 15: Sightseeing at Guge Kingdom: Morning drive to Tsaparang (Guge Kingdom, 23km), and drive back to Tholing by the evening. Overnight at Zadan ( Guest House, dorm bed)
Day 16: Zanda / Ali ( 200Km, 7-8 hours): Drive from Zanda to Ali, pass Laochi-la and Lalung-la over 5000m , the road is equally tough going. Overnight at Ali ( Guest house, dorm bed)
Day 17: Ali / Rutok ( 132km, 3-4hours): Drive to Rutok in the Late morning, visit Rutok Ancient Petroglyphs around. Overnight at Rutok ( Guest house, dorm bed)
Day 18: Pangong-tso ( A lake) / Durma ( 120km, 3-4hours): Drive to Pangong-tso north 8km from Rutok, it offers a good views. The long lake extends 110km into Ladakh in India. Afternoon drive to Durma. Overnight at Durma ( Guest house or camping, dorm bed)
Day 19: Durma / DaHongliutan ( 358Km, 8-9hours): Drive about 2 or 3hours on the desert over 5000m, start to pass over Jieshandaban which is 6700m high. Overnight at Dahongliutan( 4200m, Guest house or camping, dorm bed)
Day 20: Dahongliutan / Yecheng (454Km, 10hours): It is a long day driving, on the way you will see some snow mountain peaks. When you arrive at Yecheng, have a good dinner after the adventure trip. Overnight at Yecheng ( Guest house, dorm bed)
