Khaptad trek lies in the far western region of Nepal that offers its travellers a wonderful trekking experience with unspoiled natural vegetation, biodiversity and pure nature. Khaptad trekking trail enters the Khaptad National park which covers an area of 225 km sq and spreads over the four districts of Bajhang, Bajura, Achham and Doti. It is believed that “Khaptad Baba” meditated for 50 years in this region because of which the National Park was named after him. Khaptad has limited touristic facilities offering its travellers the pleasure of enjoying the nature away from the modern world. Khaptad Trekking has a magnificent collection of flora and fauna as it holds 567 species of flora consisting of rhododendron, pine, fir, oak, hemlock, etc, 23 types of mammals including leopard, wild dog, wild boar, barking deer, yellow throated marten,etc, along with 287 species of birds. During the trek Mt Api (7,132m) and Mt Saipal (7,031m) rise above the hills offering us the glimpse of Himalayas.
Khaptad trek begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadi. Aftr the sightseeing of World heritages sites of Kathmandu we also have day tour in Dhangadi around the Tharu village, one of the indigenous people of this region. The following day we get on a jeep/bus to Doti via Dadeldhura. Silgadi is the starting point of our trek from where we set on the trail to Khaptad National Park spending two nights in Jhigarna and Bichpani Camp. We spend 3 nights in Khaptad National park exploring this unspoiled natural beauty. We then either return back to Dhangadi for our flight to Kathmandu or you have the option to extend your trip towards Badhimalika Temple or Sukhlapatha National park.
