Listed in the world heritage site by the UNESCO, Changunarayan Temple is Hindu temple located in Bhaktapur district of Nepal. Bhaktapur is well known for its art and craft with excellent display of wood crafting all around the city. The surrounding of this temple has many champak trees with a small villahe known Changu from where the name is to be derived. Around 12 km east of the Kathmandu Valley, Changunarayan Temple can be a perfect escape for the day into the traditional Nepal. Wit h Manohar river flowing below the hill, the hike to this temple is a gentle walk on the generally flat surface.

Changunarayan day hiking can take up to 5 to 6 hours to complete which is achievable for people of all age. This hiking can be an ideal destination for people travelling with kids but still want to have a taste of hiking into the nature that Nepal is well known for all over the world. The trail takes you into the thick forests where one can hear the birds singing as we move deeper into the jungle. The hike allows you to have an wonderful view of the Kathmandu Valley along with the series of dazzling Himalayan peaks towering behind the concrete jungle. Changunarayan hiking trail can be visited throughout the year. However, during monsoon trail can be muddy and slippery.
