Detail itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu [1330 m]: Upon your arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Adventure treks Nepal will be waiting outside the airport gate and you will be transferred to the hotel. A short briefing session will be conducted once you have settled down. If you have any questions regarding the trip please do let us know. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley [1330 m] - (B): After Breakfast we Proceed for sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur city 15 km from Kathmandu, known as city of Devotees and center of medieval art and architecture founded by King Anand Dev in 889 AD, visit Nyatpola temple, the most beautiful temple of Nepal, the 15th century palace of 55 windows, Golden gate and other place of Interest. Lunch Time: 1300hrs-14:00hrs PM: Visit Pashupatinath temple one of the most sacred Hindu shrine in the World. The holy river Bagmati and the burning ghats and also visit one of the oldest and biggest stupa of Boudhanath. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Jiri [2,370 m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast in the Hotel we drive to the Initial Point of our trek, Jiri. Jiri is a municipality in Dolakha district in the Janakpur Zone of north-eastern Nepal. The drive passes through some of the oldest Newar settlements of Banepa and Dhulikhel with splendid sweeping view of the eastern Himalayas which includes Ganesh Himal, LangtangLirung and DorjeLakpa. On our way to Jiri we drive over a ridge behind Dolalghat and reach Charikot, capital district of Dolakha. We drive further ahead towards Jiri for our first overnight stay at the Teahouse. Average driving time is 09-10 hours.
Day 04: Jiri to Shivalaya [1,750 m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast we begin our footsteps on the epic Jiri Everest Base Camp trek. The initial stage of the trek is a ascend to the ridge-top at 2,370m. The trail offers extraordinary country side scenerary from every ridge top and passes through charming local people. The trail then descends to Shivalaya for our overnight stay. Average trekking time is 03-04 hours.
Day 05: Shivalaya to Bhadar [2,190 m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast we get back on our journey to Everest Base Camp. Before reaching Bhandar the trail passes through local settlements at Sangbadanda (2,150m), Kosaribas (2,500m) and also Bhanjyang Pass. We stop at Bhandar for our overnight stay. You can visit around Bhandar in the evening. Average trekking time is 04-05 hours.
Day 06: Bhandar to Sete [2,575 m] - (B/L/D): From Sete the trail descends down to LikhuKhola and we trek across the river at 1,490m and into Kenja (1,570m), along the turning path. We then begin a long uphill walk towards Lamjura hill. The initial stage of the trail is a steep ascend which passes through abandoned stupa at an elevation of 2,575m. The trail finally reaches Sete as we walk alongside the terraced fields with incredicle scenes of the surrounding area for overnight stay where we can experience great hospitality by the local people in the middle of the rhododendron forest. Average trekking time is 06-07 hours.
Day 07: Sete to Lamjura pass [3,530 m] to Junbesi [2,680 m] - (B/L/D): Today's' walk leads to a gradual climb on the good path, passing through few small scattered farm houses and teahouses. After few hours of good walk through the beautiful rhododendron forest, reaching at Lamjura Pass (3,530m), which is the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar. The trail then descends through fir and rhododendron forest and emerges after one and half hrs to Taktor. Traverse on the north side of the valley round a notch before dropping down to the Sherpa village of Junbesi for an overnight stop. Average trekking time is 06-07 hours.
Day 08: Junbesi to Nunthala [2,330 m] - (B/L/D): On this day if weather allows, you will be having the first glimpse of Everest. From Junbesi the trail leads to the village of Phaplu where you will see a domestic airport as well as the district headquarter. We leave Salung and descend down to RingmoKhola (2,650m) accompanied by a uphill climb to Tak-Shindo Pass. We see an apple orchard at this spot; the Apple House offers apple juice, pie and rakshi (rice spirit). We trek to Trakshindo Pass (3,071m) from where the path is mostly downhill that takes you into the alpine forests of oaks, rhododendron, pines and hemlock trees and heads down a monastery onto Nuntala for overnight stay. Average trekking time is 06-07 hours.
Day 09: Nunthala to Bupsadanda [2,300 m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast at the Hotel we will continue our trek further ahead walking downhill to the DudhKoshi River. After we cross the raging river the trail twists through terraced cultivated fields and yards of houses. We then walk downhill towards Chautara followed by a walk through forests and to Jubing (1,667m). From Jubing, the trail meanders to a ascend to the village around a ridge and reaches Bupsadanda for overnight stay via Sikali and Kharikhola. Average trekking time is 06-07 hours.
Day 10: Bupsadanda to Surke [2,400m] - (B/L/D): The trekking on this day starts after your breakfast towards Bhumsing (2,300m) and continues uphill through a feeder valley filled with prickly leaned oak and rhododendron forest, where you may see some Langour monkeys as well. We descend down to cross a river and purse to Puiyan (2,796m), a tiny village in the middle of the trail to Surkhe. After Puiyan the trail leads on the long winding trail with few ups and downs just before the long downhill toSurkhe, our destination for today. Average trekking time is 05-06 hours.
Day 11: Surke to Phakding [2,652 m] - (B/L/D): From Surkhe, it is an uphill climb over a ridge heading in the direction of Chaurikharka, another scattered village. Before we reach Chaurikharka, we will cross a deep gorge with a high waterfall (2,408m). Chaurikharka has fertile land because of which this place is also the bread basket for the Khumbu area as most of the barley, wheat and green vegetables found in Everest region are harvested here. The trail then reaches Lukla and heads down towards the DudhKoshi River from where we slowly walk through the pine and rhododendron forests and into the vicinity of Phakding for overnight stay. Average trekking time is 04-05 hours.
Day 12: Phakding to Namche Bazaar [3,440 m] - (B/L/D): On this day we begin our trekking from Phakding after your breakfast at the Hotel. We cross the fearsome DudhKoshi River twice this day before completely entering the Sagarmatha National Park. We trek through beautiful pine and rhododendron forests and heaq uphill to NamchheBazzar. During the trek to Namchhe you will find many yaks along the trail transporting goods to various parts of Everest Region. Spectacular Mountain peaks like Nupla (5,885m), KongdeRi (6,093 m) and Thamserku (6,808m) rise majestically above us throughout most of the day. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar. Average trekking time is 6 to 7 hours.
Day 13: Acclimatization day, day hike to Shyangboche [3,833 m] - (B/L/D): On this day we stay in NamchheBazzar for acclimatization. Due to the decreasing air pressure it is extremely important to spend a day in Namchhe. During the afternoon we will have a short hike up to the Everest View Hotel in shyangboche for extraordinary view of Mount Everest and AmaDablam. We then return back to Namchhe Bazzar for overnight stay. Average trekking time is 02-03 hours.
Day 14: Namche Bazaar to Dole [4,000 m] - (B/L/D): Adapting the changed climatic conditions, we continue further with our trek towards Thyangboche, north-east from Namche Bazaar. We set on a climb on the flanks of the sacred peak of Khumbila (5,761m). We trek for some time across yak pastures as the trail moderately ascends to Mon La. Just beneath us the horrifying DudhKoshi River and ImjaKhola River confluence. We then reach a stupa wrapped with prayer flags at the top of a ridge at 3,992 meters followed by a steep descend into the forests. Across the valley Tyangboche monastery is framed by AmaDablam and Kantega. We cross the DudhKoshi River once again before reaching the settlement at Portse Tenga where we will be having our lunch. After lunch we continue walking north following the DudhKoshi towards its source, the splendid Ngozumpa Glacier. The trek to Dole will be less crowd as we will be living the main Everest Base Camp trekking route and head towards the Gokyo. Sections of red birch, fir and dwarf rhododendron forest are interspersed with areas of yak pasture as we gradually gain altitude. We pass satisfying waterfalls and peer at the glacier that flows from Tawache and Cholatse on the other side of the valley. Beyond us, amazing ridges lead to Khumbila Peak and many other unnamed peaks above 6,000 meters. Overnight stay in Dole. Average trekking time is 07-08 hours.
Day 15: Dole to Machhermo [4,410 m] - (B/L/D): The day begins with a uphill climb on a ridge for wonderful view of the valley named Kengtega and Cho Oyu. We then descend down to a river followed by a steep ascend to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. We will then enter the beautiful village named Machhermo for the overnight stay. Machhermo has less number of buildings which are empty most of the time in a year. People from Khumjung and Khunde own this land which is used to graze yaks during the summer. This is a short trek day and also helps you to acclimatized as we will prepare for the higher altitude ascend to GokyoRi (5,483m). During afternoon you can take a walk up the ridge behind Luza for excellent view of Gokyo Valley. Average trekking time is 3-4 hours
Day 16: Machhermo to Gokyo [4,750 m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast at the hotel we will follow the trail to Gokyo that goes high above the river and ascends to Gokyo village. We take a short break at Pangka to witness the beauty of Cholatse. We will be above the tree line by the time we reach Pangka and head towards the Ngozumpa Glacier on a rocky trail which offers imposing views of Kantega to the south and Cho Oyu to the north. Each mountain has its individual character and presence, and you can understand why mountain people have such spiritual significance. We unwaveringly ascend down and pass the first of the lakes, Logponga, before reaching an even larger lake named, Taoche lake. In Taochelake you will see ducks swimming in the freezing water during their migrations to and from Tibet. The trail then parallels the Ngozumpa Glacier and into the Gokyo Village. Average trekking time is 5 to 6 hours.
Day 17: Trek to Gokyo - Ri and back to Gokyo [4,750 m] - (B/L/D): Today we climb up the GokyoRi (5,483m) for wonderful panoramic mountain view. From GokyoRi, you will witness some of the outstanding views of Gokyo valley, the huge Ngozumpa glacier and an unbelievable sweeping view of the entire Khumbu Himalayas, including the gigantic Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang. We return back to Gokyo for the overnight stay after we spend some time in GokyoRi. O/N in Lodge. Average trekking time is 6 to 7 hours.
Day 18: Gokyo to Thangna [4,700m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast at the hotel we trek on the same trail till Lonpongo, from where we change our way towards Thangna , a village at the foot of the Cho La Pass. There are great views today of Cho Oyu and Cholatse. Always keep an eye open for Himalayan thar during the trek on this day. Average trekking time is 6 to 7 hours.
Day 19: Thangna toDzongla [4,843 m] via Cho La Pass [5,420 m]- (B/L/D): We will start extremely early in the morning around 4 or 5 am to escape the strong wind at the top of Cho La Pass during the day. Depending on the snow condition it will take around 3 to 4 hours to reach the top of the pass. We will spend some time capturing the natural beauty from the top of the mighty Cho La pass. The views of the peaks are excellent all day and once at the saddle of the pass, the glaciers and immediate peaks seem to hover over us. After successfully passing the Cho La pass we gradually descend down to the village at Dzongla for overnight stay, right beside the north face of Cholatse from where AmaDablam looks just incredible. Average trekking time is 6 to 7 hours.
Day 20: Dzongla to Lobuche at [4,955 m] - (B/L/D): After a freezing cold night the morning sun releases the picturesque panorama of dazzling peaks. We begin our trek after your breakfast heading high above the flanks of Awi Peak and carry on towards Cholatse Lake. Behind the Lake, Chola Glacier flows straight from a saddle between the cliffs of Cholatse and Taweche which is a rough and beautiful treat to ones eye. While we trek uphill, Nuptse (7,745m) unfolds before us rising above the Khumbu Glacier. We head further till we join the Everest Base Camp trekking route through Thyangboche. You will see the increase in numbers in trekkers once we join the trail. The successful 1953 British Expedition to Everest thought of this place as a warm and pleasant rest point.The hill above the settlement affords fine sunset views of Nuptse. Overnight at Lobuche. Average trekking time is 6 to 7 hours.
Day 21: Lobuche to GorakShep [5,288 m] Everest Base Camp [5,360 m]- (B/L/D): The day begins with a demanding walk along the Khumbu Glacier to reach Everest Base Camp via GorakShep. We spend some time in Everest Base Camp witnessing the 360-degree mountain views and also the closest view of Everest one can get without any montaineering gear. The view of Khumbu icefall is thrilling. We return back to Gorakshep for overnight stay. This spectacular village is surround by beautiful mountains including Pumori (7,145m), Lingtren (6,697m), Nuptse (7,745m) and of course Everest (8,850m). Average trekking time is 8 to 9 hours.
Day 22: Trek to Kalapattar, Back to Pheriche [4,365 m]- (B/L/D): After your breakfast at the hotel we start the most difficult day of our trek yet the most rewarding one. A tough uphill climb to the famous Kala Patthar, a small peak at an elevation of 5,545 m offers you the most magnificent mountain panorama : Everest, the highest point on the planet at 29,028ft (8,848 m), towers directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We then descend to Pheriche for overnight stay. Average trekking time is 8-9 hours.
Day 23: Pheriche to Thyangboche [3,850] - (B/L/D): The trail today is a descend on a beautiful trailfollowing the river and into the birch and rhododendron forests. Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam, Thamserku and Kantega rise majestically over us. We will visit a monastery in Tengboche These monasteries hold great value in Sherpa culture. Average trekking time is 04 to 5 hours.
Day 24: Tengboche to Namche Bazzar [3,440 m] - (B/L/D): After your breakfast we will begin our trek. The trail goes through dense forests and traditional houses. We walk to the bridge over DudhKoshi River. We will see some water driven Prayer wheels before finally reaching to NamcheBazzar. Average trekking time is 03 to 04hours.
Day 25: Trek to Lukla [2,652 m] - (B/L/D): We backtrack our footsteps along the Dudh Koshi River. It is a easy and wonderful walk passing through Rhododendron forests with a stunning view of kusum Kanguru and other famous mountains behind us . We then climb out from the river valley and reach to the trekking starting and ending point, Lukla. Average trekking time is 06-07 hours.
Day 26: Fly to Kathmandu [1330 m] - (B): Saying final goodbye to our supporting crew members who will stay in Lukla, we fly to Kathmandu. Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. This day also acts as a buffer day in case of any flight cancellation due to bad weather conditions.
Day 27: Free day in Kathmandu [1330 m] - (B): This is a leisure day in Kathmandu. You can visit the shops around Thamel for any last minute shopping. However, there are many other UNESCO world heritage sites like Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and many other tourists attractions near Kathmandu valley which you can visit. We are always ready to offer you suggestions.
Day 28: Fly back home [1330 m] - (B): A representative from Adventure Treks Nepal will drop you to the airport according to your flight time. Return back home with lots of good memories.
