With an objective of getting away from the city life yet not so far from Kathmandu, Adventure Treks Nepal has started operating hiking to Namoboudha. Approximately 38 km away from Kathmandu valley, Namoboudha lies at the top of a hill in Panauti located in Kavre district. This ancient monastery is a important Buddhist pilgrimage and away from the noice pollution. Namoboudha also is a learning centr for many young lamas where you may get to witness the daily lifestyle of people practicing the Buddhism. This legendary holy place is also the same location where prince Mahasattva offered himself to the starving tigress accompanied by her cubs while he was practicing on the path of learning.
Namoboudha hiking begins from Dhulikhel where the initial part of the hike appears to be the stone steps that lead us to top of the hill where the Gauri Shanker Himalayan range wait for us. Capturing those white giants we processed ahead where the trail enters the forest with the sounds of birds chirping and sometimes complete silence. After reaching Namoboudhha we stop there for a while knowing more about the history behind this legendary place and have lunch. The hiking ends at the village in Panauti. Namoboudha hiking is a comfortable hiking which can be started from Dhulikhel and Panauti which can be done by everyone.
