Shivapuri Day Hiking

Starting approximately 8 km northern from a place named Budhanilkantha, Shivapuri hike take us 2,563 meters above sea level. Shivapuri is the second highest hill that surrounds the Kathmandu valley. From the top you will have extraordinary view of the mountain on the northen site that include Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Gauri Shaker and many more. This hiking trail is located inside the Shivapuri National Park and is under the protection of Nepal Army. More than 500 species of plants are conserved in this National park with many species of plants.

Shivapuri hiking begins with a drive from your hotel towards Budhanikantha. Nepal Army welcomes us at the southern area of the Shivapuri National Park from where we walk on the steep uphill trail for around half an hour followed by a gradual uphill walk which will take us around 2 hours. On our way up we pass a famous monastery named Nagi Gumpa which is well known meditating place for Nepalese as well as foreigners that is 2,330 meters above Sea level. After spending some time in the top and having our pavked lunch along the magnificient view, we do not return back the same trail and instead hike down to Kopan from where we drive back to hotel.
